Scientific name:  Fraxinus Excelsior.                                     

Family: Oleaceae.

Distribution:  Grows throughout Europe, North Africa and Western Asia.

General Description: A cream to pale tan in colour.  The timber is tough and generally straight grained with a coarse but even texture.  The grain pattern is similar to Oak and is often stained as a substitute. When a mid to dark stain is applied it is a good substitute to the more expensive Oak.
