Hardwood Timbers
The density of timbers can vary according to the species and moisture content. The * indicates that the timber density can vary by more than 20%.
For an FD30 and FD60 rating the timber density must be a minimum of 510kg/m3. Although some timbers such as Ash and Beech have high densities they are not suitable for an FD60 application. Iroko is NOT suitable for either FD30 or FD60.
Please note that FD30 & FD60 glazing beads must be manufactured from timber with a minimum density of 640kg/m3.
